A Callaborative Clinical Trial on Empynase in Chronic Bronchitis




Abstract
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the clinical effect of Empynase on chronic bronchitis in Korea.
A prospective study was conducted on the open trial with thirty-two cases of chronic bronchitis selected by the consecutive method.
Patients were given the daily dose of two capsules three times a day of Empynase and were followed up at the four weeks from two weeks of treatment.
The result were as follows:
1. Effectiveness after two weeks of treatment was shown decreased numbers of coughing 78.1%, amount of expectoration 75.0%, disappearance of sputum 81. 3%, symptom attack rate 75.0%, degree of moist rales 75.0% and disappearance of dyspnea 87. 5%.
Comprehensive effectiveness was 78. 1%.
2. Effectiveness after four weeks of treatment was shown decreased numbers of coughing 87.5%, amount of expectoration 84.4%, disappearance of sputum 84.4%, symptom attack rate 86.8%, degree of moist rales 83.9%, and disappearance of dyspnea 96.9%.
Comprehensive effectiveness was 87.5%.
3. As the untoward side effect of Empynase there was no physical or laboratory abnormality observed during or after treatment with the drug.
In conclusion Empynase appears to be effective and safe for the treatment of patients with chronic bronchitis.
